May 2026 Vestry Highlights
Cornerstone Centennial Celebration Blessings
The Cornerstone Centennial auction and other fundraising efforts have raised at least $100,000 in support of God’s children, Bound for Glory Camp and Camp Henry have each received a $50,000 check from the fundraising proceeds. Many volunteers have made possible fundraising proceeds equating to $1000 for every year since the laying of the cornerstone 100 years ago. The Vestry is deeply grateful for the many parishioners who gave generously of their time and of their resources to make a difference in the lives of our community’s children. Cornerstone Centennial Celebration activities will continue through the coming months and will be publicized in the E-pistle.
Vision 2031
The Vestry has identified a need to renew St. Philip’s vision to discern how best to build upon its strengths and expand its ministries. After exploring options, the Vestry voted at its May meeting to engage Sparkpoint to facilitate a visioning process. Sparkpoint will use a Participatory Narrative Inquiry process to gather parishioners' experiences, hopes, concerns and perspectives as members of St. Philip’s. Broader community input will also be gathered. The resulting Vision 2031 will guide the next steps in the evolution of St. Philip’s. The process will begin in the fall. Sparkpoint is a not-for-profit organization committed to strengthening communities and organizations in Western North Carolina. More information will be communicated later in the summer regarding the process and how parishioners can participate.
