MUSIC

St. Philip’s has a long-standing tradition of excellent music and is currently enjoying growth and transition. Our musical mission reflects St. Augustine’s words, “Those who sing pray twice.”

St. Philip’s is blessed with two dedicated choirs, under the direction of Brittnee Siemon, always ready to offer their musical gifts to enrich our worship and to reflect the various ways people love to pray in song from the Anglican tradition and beyond.

Special Music Offerings

Dulcimer Choir

The Dulcimer Choir has been practicing and playing together for many years. They practice in the YAC twice a month and play at several nursing homes as well as at Silvermont monthly for their Lunch Bunch seniors. The group welcomes other musical instruments, is always open to new members and beginning dulcimer lessons can be provided.

Taizé Worship

Taizé is a prayerful form of music known for its simple, yet rich and meditative character. Taizé music often takes the structure of an ostinato (a simple melody that repeats over and over) and is meant to serve as a kind of musical centering prayer. Because Taizé music itself is intentionally simple, it provides a great way to move our prayer from the head to the heart. St. Philip's offers Taizé worship periodically throughout the year.
