JOIN US In Doing Good!

Ministries abound at St. Philip’s. Use your talents, your love for something special, or your interest in serving others to find an area in which you want to contribute. Opportunities to serve are introduced at our Newcomers’ events or you can get more detailed information by contacting Jann Mellman (727) 424-4698 or calling the office (828) 884-3666.
Please join us in helping others as we "Go in Peace to love and serve the Lord."

Volunteer in the Community

You will meet St. Philippians working side by side with staff, boards of directors, and clients of the following organizations:

We serve our neighbors with donations from Christian Social Concerns, The St. Philip’s Foundation, The Shop of St. Philip’s, and the work of our TOWEL Ministry. Even if you're not a member of St. Philip's, we invite community friends and neighbors to participate in:

St. Philip’s is the foundation of my life – my family, my community, my support group, my example of spiritual growth. It encourages me to think of others – especially those less fortunate – and to reach out in any way possible. Its teachings provide an incentive to follow Christ’s exhortation to “love one another, as I have loved you.”

SHOP OF ST. PHILiP'S

The Shop of St. Philip’s is owned by the Episcopal Women of St. Philip’s (ECW) and focuses on needs in our community, just as our founding ladies did fifty-plus years ago. The Shop is filled with quality merchandise at affordable prices. The profits are used to support the mission and ministries of the ECW of St. Philip’s, with a significant portion being used for outreach grants to local non-profits that assist those in need. The Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is operated by a league of volunteers, guided by a 15-member Shop Board. We welcome new volunteers – men and women, Episcopal and non-Episcopal. Every aspect of the Shop, including our generous donors and happy customers, truly reflects our sense of community.

ART OF THE MOUNTAINS

A major fundraising event, ART of the Mountains coincides with Brevard's annual White Squirrel Festival during the Memorial Day long weekend. Local artists' paintings, drawings, pottery, and many other items are available for purchase, with proceeds going to area charities. There's also live music and refreshments and a raffle featuring several artwork giveaways.

EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN (ECW)

St. Philip’s ECW works to fulfill Christ’s mission and ministry in our world. Through the monies generated by the Shop of St. Philip’s, we are able to award grants to numerous groups and organizations engaged in work to benefit those in need in Transylvania County. While the major portion of the annual budget goes to supporting these local grants, additional monies are allocated to regional and national outreach. Members of our ECW board provide oversight of many ministries in the parish, including Seaman’s Institute, UTO in-gatherings, memorial receptions, and kitchen upkeep. We have general meetings in March, June, September and December to which all are invited to attend!
